Modi had denied any intrusion by the Chinese
Terming the statement made by Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi in the all party meeting on Friday that no one has intruded into the Indian Territory as laughable, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Pritam Singh has said that PM’s statement is an insult to the supreme sacrifice made by 20 soldiers of Indian army. He questioned that if there is no dispute on the Indo- China border then why the soldiers had to lay down their lives.
He said that reports suggest that 10 soldiers of Indian Army were held captive by the Chinese and after several rounds of negotiations between the army officers of the two sides they were released by China on Friday. The PCC president said that the statement of the PM is misleading and is the one which would break the morale of the armed forces.
He said that the tension prevailed for quite some time at the Indo- China border but the Narendra Modi government and its intelligence network failed to gauge the nefarious designs of the neighbour and the country had to pay for this blunder with the lives of its 20 soldiers. The PCC president said that the attack on the Indian soldiers on the night of June 16 by the Chinese is a failure of the foreign policy of the BJP government. He alleged that the union government kept the activities on the boundaries hidden for a long time when things became complex it convened an all party meeting. Singh opined that the all party meeting should have been called in the initial phase and a strategy could have been devised after deliberation. He however added that the Congress party under the leadership of its president Sonia Gandhi supports every step taken by the armed forces for protecting the country.
