Pithoragarh disaster: MLA Dhami releases a video requesting CM for help
In a dramatic video shared on his facebook page, the Congress MLA from Dharchula constituency in Pithoragarh district Harish Dhami has requested the chief minister (CM) Trivendra Singh Rawat to rescue the disaster affected people of his constituency. In the video Dhami even promises the CM that though he is a MLA of Congress party, he would not contest from Dharchula again if he (CM) extends help and wants Dhami not to contest from the constituency he represents. Dhami with the folded hands requested the CM to direct rescue from helicopters of the people affected by flash floods in areas such as Mori and Maitri. Dhami incidentally sustained minor injuries on Thursday when his foot slipped while crossing a rivulet. Dhami fell in the water and flowed with it for about 10 meters when some of his supporters rescued him. The Congress MLA was returning from the disaster affected Mori village. It is pertinent to mention here that many villages in the Dharchula and Munsyari areas of Pithoragarh district have been severely affected by disaster precipitated by heavy rains from the last two weeks. Dhami is continuously travelling and visiting the affected areas.
Meanwhile the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Pritam Singh called Dhami on phone and inquired about his health. He also got information from Dhami about the sufferings of the people of his constituency. The PCC president asked the CM Rawat to provide immediate relief to the disaster affected people of Dharchula area.
