The latest data released by the State directorate of Economics and Statistics, the per capita income of Uttarakhand on current prices has risen to Rs 177356 for the year 2017-18 while the economy of the state grew at 11.25 percent. The per capita income at the constant price (of the year 2011-12) for year 2017-18 has been estimated at Rs 140405. The income for the previous year (2016-17) was 133246.
It is worth mentioning here that the key indices of Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) and Net State Domestic Product (NSDP) are calculated on current prices and constant ( year2011-12) prices. The per capita income is calculated by dividing the population of the state by NSDP. The GSDP of the state for the year for the year 2017-18 has been estimated at Rs 217609 Crores at current price and Rs 173444 Crore at constant prices. The NSDP on current prices for the year 2017-18 is Rs 195375 Crores. Interestingly the GSDP data showed an increase of 11.28 and 11.28 percent for the years 2016-17 and 2017-18 while the corresponding growth was only 8.88 percent for the year 2015-16.
The Director Economics and statistics Sushil Kumar said that the directorate had released final data for the years from 2011-12 till 2014-15, quick data for year 2015-16 and provisional data for the year 2016-17 on July 29. 2017. He added that based on agriculture, budget, organized, unorganized sector and private sector reports the estimates for the year 2015-16 were amended.
The data show that the agriculture, forestry and fisheries showed an increase of 6.68 percent in the year 2017-18 while the primary sector grew at 6.99 percent during the corresponding period. The secondary sector also recorded a growth of 7.74 percent for this period. The industrial sector also witnessed an increase of 7.78 percent in the year 2017-18.
