Participate regularly in Scouts & Guides activities: Guv
The Uttarakhand governor Baby Rani Maurya said that children should regularly participate in scouts and guides activities for the various positive effects these have. The governor said this while distributing Bharat Scouts and Guides state level awards and certificates at the Raj Bhawan on Monday. These certificates were presented to representatives from all the districts. The Prime Minister shield and Vice President shield certificates were presented to Chamoli, Dehradun, Pauri and Udham Singh Nagar.
Speaking on the occasion, Maurya said that involvement in scouts and guides inculcates the feeling of social responsibility among the children. Such involvement also helps all-round development of the personality while making the children more disciplined and courageous even in emergency situations. While observing rules and discipline, youngsters develop a personality full of self confidence, harmony and strong character. She said, “In Uttarakhand, along with social service works, the scouts and guides should also play a role in environmental conservation, sanitation campaign, tree plantation and efforts against the use of single-use plastic. In times of natural disasters, the role of scouts and guides becomes all the more important in helping in rescue and relief efforts along with facilitating help for the disaster affected people.”
Speaking on the occasion, the Bharat Scouts and Guides chief commissioner of the state, Seema Jaunsari informed that 40,000 registered scouts and guides are undergoing training at different levels across the state. Education secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram, state commissioner (Scouts) Raghunath Lal Arya, state commissioner (Guides) Vandana Gabryal and other officials along with scouts and guides were present on the occasion.
