Sitting plan of MLAs to change; less visitors to be allowed
Convened in the month of September amid the pandemic of novel Coronavirus (Covid-19), the monsoon session of Uttarakhand assembly would be held under strict regulations. The assembly secretariat is planning to curtail the list of persons allowed to enter the session and a special sitting plan would be made for the members inside the house. The monsoon session of Uttarakhand assembly would start from September 23. The speaker of Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha Premchand Agarwal confirmed that the three day session would be held under regulations enforced to contain the spread of the virus. Talking to the media at Vidhan Sabha premises on Friday, the Speaker said that the sitting arrangement of MLAs would be in accordance with the social distancing norms. He added that the limited number of passes would be issued to the officers and other guests during the session.
On the day the speaker laid the foundation stone of the 101 feet high mast at the assembly premises. When completed, the Tricolour would be unfurled on this mast. The speaker on July 22 this year had announced that a 101 high national flag would be set up at the assembly premises. The flag would be 20 feet wide and 30 feet long. A pole having special high mast lights would keep illuminating this giant tricolour. Speaking on the occasion, the Speaker said that the decision to install the flag has been taken to inculcate the spirit of patriotism and respect towards the nation.
The Raipur MLA Umesh Sharma Kau, Rajpur MLA Khajan Das, Mussoorie MLA Ganesh Joshi and others were present on the occasion.
