Optimistic that Covid vaccine will be introduced soon: Garhwal commissioner
The Garhwal commissioner Ravinath Raman said that people should not be insensitive toward the Covid-19 positive patients adding that everyone should be against the disease and not the patient or people who are fighting against it. Raman said this at a function held to felicitate Covid warriors at the collectorate on Tuesday.
Talking about how some Covid-19 patients are secluded and treated badly even after their medical treatment, Raman stated that the people should not make these patients a victim of this disease and be compassionate in the current conditions. He added that Covid-19 contagion will not go away anytime soon so everyone needs to remain more aware. He also said that the recovery rate of Covid-19 patients in Dehradun is quite better than before and he is optimistic that the vaccine will be introduced soon too. Commending the district magistrate Ashish Kumar Shrivastava for his management during the pandemic, Raman said that managing several crucial responsibilities must not have been easy but Shrivastava managed it quite well, especially the return of the migrants and managing hundreds of people in quarantine centers. Raman honoured eight Covid warriors including Shrivastava at the collectorate for their contribution in the fight against Covid-19 in the last several months. He said that the Covid warriors are those who put extra effort while doing their duty and continue to do so to fight against the disease. Shrivastava informed that the district administration chose these Covid warriors from three categories- officials, employees and field workers like Asha workers and drivers. According to him, such events promote healthy competition and encourage everyone to do well in their duties.
