The link between thought- attitude- action- habit- personality and destiny is visible in front of us. Faith or belief system is very important in this process. Thought is a process which goes on consistently inside us. The feelings and emotions inside us are based on the quality of thoughts we have. Our mentality will also be influenced by this.
Mentality could be defined as a circle of thoughts. As our mentality is, so will our behaviour be towards another person. If there is negativity in our mentality, it will also get reflected in our behaviour. Negativity in the mentality is basically due to negative thoughts. If the thoughts are positive, the mentality will also be good. When the mentality is positive, the behaviour is also good. How the behaviour is also decides the habits we have. Further, the type of habits we have also decided the personality we have. This means that our thoughts or memory have a decisive influence on our nature. Our nature or personality decides how our future will be. Behaviour and actions decide our karma, which is why it is stated that our future is in our hands.
Psychology states that as our thoughts are so will our destiny be. One could also stated that our thoughts are our actions, future and destiny.
Spirituality talks of what is one step ahead. The question is how are good or bad thoughts formed in our minds. Spirituality provides the answer to this question- the creation is as it is viewed. Someone wearing dark glasses will view everything as tinted. On the other hand, if one sees with a positive view, all things will appear good. How our view is decides the thought process that goes on inside us. That is why one should stress on purifying one’s vision. The thought process is built according to our view.
We have to cultivate a view which does not see the weakness of any person but instead shows us only the speciality. Viewing at the defects of others opens the way for such defects to enter us.
Whether a person is bad or good, depends on our experience. If our experience has been bad, it may mean that it was influenced by our weakness- like anger which is one of our weaknesses. Another person had a good experience because he or she used his or her internal strength or interacted cordially with someone else. The experience of the first person was tainted by anger because there already was anger inside the person. Our experiences are affected by whether we use positive values or weakness in our behaviour and relations. Our assumptions decide whether we use positive values or weakness. For example, we assume that one can get angry with a weaker person or that one should not get angry with a powerful person. This is why one should also focus on changing our assumptions positively. What we assume should be based on values and principles. Our assumptions decide the values we use which in turn affect the experience we have. The type of experience we have influences our view which in turn fuels the thought process inside us. This builds the type of mentality we have which in turn decides our behaviour and actions. Thus becomes our personality or nature which in turn becomes our future or destiny.
This means that our assumptions or beliefs decide our fate. Such faith should be based on universal values as wrong assumptions force us to live under delusion. Where there is delusion, there will also be fear. In turn, fear gives rise to pride or arrogance within us. It is this arrogance which does not allow us to correct our wrong assumptions.
We tend to become proud of our brain, considering our mind to be good and that of others inferior. One also tends to get attached with such wrong notions and such attachment forces us to live under delusion. Attachment causes fear and pride is also a cause of fear. In turn, arrogance means attachment to wrong assumptions. The more arrogant a person is the more is his or her need for security. Mahatma Gandhi did not need security because he was not influenced by arrogance or fear.
