The Garhwal commissioner Dilip Javalkar expressed dissatisfaction at less expenditure of the balance money under last year’s State sector plan by the different districts in the Garhwal region. He stressed that the remaining funds under the State sector should be spent as required without delay. The commissioner said this while chairing a meeting to review works under the district sector, State sector, central aided, externally-aided schemes and Border Area Development Programme of all seven districts of the Garhwal region at the commissioner’s office in regional headquarter Pauri on the weekend.
Javalkar expressed dissatisfaction on less amount being spent out of the released money in the district plan and directed that amount should be spent in the month of March. He also pulled up officials of various departments for having spent only about 58 per cent of the fund received under central aided schemes till now. He stressed on ensuring the timely expenditure of such funds. Expressing concern, he stated that it was not a good sign that released amounts could not be spent as required by various departments including the agriculture department, Swajal, healt, forest, Jal Sansthan and secondary education department. Stating that such a situation is not a good sign, he said that the government should be informed in case there is any problem being faced in the expenditure of money by officers of the departments. Javalkar also checked the status of physical verification of the development works. It was stated in the meeting that the the required funds had not been received to implement scheme by the officers of ILSP, watershed, veterinary service and Peyjal Nigam. Responding to this, the commissioner assured that he would talk to the higher authorities and make efforts to resolve the issue. Additional commissioner Harak Singh Rawat, Jal Sansthan general manager OP Gupta, Public Works Department chief engineer Om Prakash and other officials concerned were also present in the meeting.
