NSUI observes National Unemployment Day

The National Students Union of India (NSUI) celebrated the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as ‘National Unemployment day’ on Thursday. The activists of the student wing of Congress party assembled at the Rajiv Bhawan and marched to the office of district magistrate of Dehradun. However the march was stopped by the police near the Darshan Lal Chowk. The agitated NSUI workers sat on a Dharna there and shouted slogans against the government. Later they submitted a memorandum directed to the governor of Uttarakhand to the Tehsildar.  In the memorandum the NSUI said that unemployed are still waiting for the long pending process of appointments in the posts of Licensed Teachers (LT), headmaster, Group C, forest guards, Review Officer, group D and PCS examinations to complete.

Speaking on the occasion, the president of the state unit of NSUI, Mohan Bhandari said that the PM Modi gave a dream of jobs to the youth but now the unemployment is at all time high in the country. In Uttarakhand the rate of unemployment has become seven times more than the rate of year 2003. He said that the Uttarakhand government should complete the pending process of recruitment examinations failing which the NSUI would be forced to start a massive agitation.

The district president of NSUI, Saurabh Mamgain said that the patience of the youth is fast waning and the state government should act without delay to address the issue of unemployment.
