Demanding observance of HC order on fee refund by the private Ayurveda colleges, NSUI also registered protest on fee hike by Garhwal University.
In protest against the fee hike of the HNB Garhwal University and the dictatorial attitude of the private Ayurveda colleges, the National Students Union of India (NSUI) organised a march carrying fire torches on Tuesday.
The students assembled at the headquarters of the state Congress party in the evening and took out a march holding candles and torches in their hands. The NSUI workers marched to the clock tower raising slogans against the Union Human Resource Development (HRD) minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and state government and Vice Chancellor (VC) of the University.
Speaking on the occasion, the President of NSUI, Mohan Bhandari said that the state government is taking no note of the agitation of the students of the private Ayurveda colleges who are staging a Dharna at protest site near parade ground from last 40 days. He said that these students are only demanding that the order of Uttarakhand High Court (HC) on refund of excess fee should be implemented but instead of complying the orders, the private Ayurveda colleges are threatening the students. “The higher education in the state is passing through a very bad phase and the policies of the state government have forced the students to hit the streets in protest,’’ he said.
The district president of the NSUI, Saurabh Mamgain said that the HNB Garhwal University has increased the fee arbitrarily. He said that the agitation would be intensified if the university does not order a roll back in the fees.
