No modification without notification from Transport dept: Dandriyal
After the meeting of transporters unions with Deputy Inspector General (traffic) Keval Khurana on Wednesday, president of city bus union, Dehradun branch said that they will not be modifying their buses in any way unless the necessary notification is issued by State Transport Commission.
The union president Vijay Vardhan Dandriyal said, “We have not been given any memo or notice from transport department, under which we operate. We will not be modifying our buses in any way unless the department issues us some notification and tells us in detail about the project.
In the meeting which was conducted at traffic directorate on Wednesday, it was stated that the company modifying our buses with air conditioners and other things will get to display their advertisements on the buses for free for a period of three months.
Without any notification from the department how can directorate give any such orders? There could be an alternative agenda behind it.”
He further said, “Traffic directorate is supposed to keep check on the traffic management. But, they are failing to do so and are interfering in the works of other departments. Instead, they should be working on the bus, Vikram and auto stands.
They should make sure that vehicles which have permit for a particular area should only operate there. They should focus on keeping the unauthorised buses in check first and then worry about the condition of city buses,” he opined.
