Niranjanpur Mandi allows unrestricted entry of local vendors
The wholesale vegetables and fruits market of Niranjanpur Mandi has ended the system of allowing only entry to a limited number of local vegetables and fruits vendors. Now, the vendors can go to the Mandi as before without any issue, said the president of Dehradun Mandi Samiti, Rajesh Sharma. He said that the farmers as well as the wholesalers have been facing heavy losses due to restricted entry of vendors in the Mandi. Therefore, the entry of all the local vendors has been allowed which will help the farmers as well as the wholesalers in the present critical time. However, Sharma also mentioned that safety measures are not being neglected in the Mandi so as to increase the number of vendors in the wholesale market. He informed that the vendors are being sent in the Mandi in small groups rather than let the whole crowd enter at once. “We send a group of about 100 vendors at a time and then after a break of 20 minutes, we send another group. This way the interaction among the people inside the Mandi remains less than usual,” said Sharma. He also added that the Mandi is now functional for the full day and it is compulsory for everyone to wear a mask in the Mandi. Besides this, every wholesaler should have a bottle of sanitiser in their shops and if anyone is found to be neglecting these rules, they are charged Rs 1000 as a penalty, informed Sharma.
