NATIONAL LEVEL BSF WRESTLER SENT TO JAIL ON SODOMY CHARGE

A national level wrestler from the Border Security Force (BSF), an accused of a sexual assault case involving a 13 –year- old boy at a camp of the Sports Authority of India (SAI) in Kashipur, was sent to jail after being produced in the court on Monday. The accused BSF personnel Mohit, native of Baghpat (Uttar Pradesh), was undergoing training at the same SAI camp as the purported victim who came for Taekwondo training.
A Kashipur-based police officer said that the medical examination of the alleged victim was conducted on Monday.
Police acted on the case after the alleged victim’s father had registered a complaint at the police station.
As per the complaint, the accused had called the victim over phone and after he had come the accused had allegedly attempted to sexually assault him on Sunday evening. The alleged victim had escaped and police had been informed on the toll free number 100. Police had rushed to the spot and arrested the accused. Subsequently, a case under appropriate sections of IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act had been registered against the accused in the Kashipur police station on Sunday.
The accused was produced in the court and then sent to jail on Monday.
Police sources said that the accused had been undergoing training for the past three months at the same training centre for the preparation of the National Games.
The alleged victim, a native of Rajasthan, too had been undergoing training process at the centre under SAI.
