Names of sitting MPs top list of ticket hopefuls in BJP
MLAs commit to work for ensuring resounding victory
In the meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party legislators held here on Thursday, the party reaffirmed its stance on winning from all the five Lok Sabha constituencies in the State. The BJP state president said that the names of sitting MPs from five constituencies in Uttarakhand have been kept on top in the list of ticket hopefuls sent to the party high command.
The meeting which was presided over by the party’s state president was also attended by Union Minister and party Lok Sabha in-charge of the State, Thaawar Chand Gehlot, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and office bearers of the party.
Talking to the media persons after the meeting, the BJP state president said that the names of the sitting MPs were at the top in the list of ticket contenders sent to the party high command.
He further said that each MLA has been made the in-charge of his or her respective constituency. The MLAs are expected to disseminate information about the achievements of the Central and State Governments while also respond to the “misinformation” being spread by the Congress party.
In the meeting held here, all the MLAs committed themselves to work for a victory of the party candidates from all five seats in the State as in 2014, to ensure that Narendra Modi gets a second term as the Prime Minister of the nation. Bhatt further informed that each MLA will deposit at least one month’s salary in the party fund. Some MLAs contributed to the party fund by cheque on Thursday itself. Three MLAs including Cabinet Ministers Satpal Maharaj and Arvind Pandey along with Ritu Khanduri were unable to attend the meeting in Dehradun.
However, they communicated with the party’s State president. In the meeting, Gehlot and the Chief Minister also expressed their views.
The MLAs also put forth their suggestions. Cabinet Ministers Prakash Pant, Harak Singh Rawat, Yashpal Arya, Subodh Uniyal, State ministers Dhan Singh Rawat and Rekha Arya along with party office bearers and MLAs were among those present in the meeting.
