MP Tirath Singh Rawat & others hurt after car flips over
The Garhwal MP Tirath Singh Rawat and three others sustained injuries after the car they were travelling in met with an accident in Haridwar on Sunday morning. The MP is reported to have been returning from Delhi to his residence in Pauri when the mishap took place. The car he was in reportedly flipped over after the driver attempted to dodge an oncoming vehicle.
The police reached the site on learning about the mishap. The MP was first taken to a local hospital from where after primary treatment he was referred to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rishikesh.
After some time the MP felt better and was able to talk to the media about the incident. He told media persons that he had reached Haridwar by train at about 4 am. After freshening up, at about 6:45, the MP along with his personal secretary, gunner and driver started off in a car towards his residence in Pauri.
Shortly afterwards, the driver of Rawat’s car attempted to dodge an oncoming car.
He lost control of the car as a result of which the vehicle flipped over. The MP said that he had some contusions but was otherwise fine.
While public representatives reached AIIMS to check on the condition of the MP, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat had a telephonic conversation with him and wished him a speedy recovery.
