Former vice chancellor of Sridev Suman University, US Rawat said that a lot of research still needs to be done on the Himalayas. The history of Himalaya is very rich and people from different castes and creeds have been living here for ages. He also said that India, Tibet and Bhutan have had deep ties for long.
Rawat said this at an event in Songtsen Library Centre for Tibetan and Himalayan Studies Drikung Kagyu Institute where he was invited as the chief guest on Tuesday. Higher education, history of Uttarakhand and importance of the Himalayas were discussed in the event.
Rawat said that new brotherhood and relations can be established through education. He said that a lot of research needs to be done on the Himalayas. He further appreciated the work done at Songtsen library in this sector. Rawat encouraged the students to work hard with passion and to set new dimensions in this field. He said that everyone will have to become united and work together. He also said that teachers too must teach with passion to students as intellectual well being matters a lot in life.
Director of Songtsen library Tashi Samfel said the institution will keep making lives better by increasing the level of education. He said that along with work on Himalayas, there is a need to better the realtions between India and Bhutan.
Former dean of HNB Garhwal University, JP Pachauri was also prsesnt at the event. He said that the Himalayas have international importance. Considering this, deeper relations between India and Bhutan are vital.
