Moksha ghat unrepaired: villagers may boycott civic poll

 Tuesday, 23 April 2024 | PNS | UTTARKASHI

In latest news from Uttarakhand, people are deeply annoyed over the condition of Moksha ghat in Devidhar, Dhanari worsening due to indifference being shown by the administration and the political leaders who seek votes in the name of religion.  They said that the ghat had been washed away by swollen river two years ago and since then no initiative has been taken to repair it.

With the ghat remaining unrepaired, there is no proper place to cremate body and the condition of the roads was also miserable with stones jutting out everywhere, they said and added that things would further worsen with the onset of monsoon.

“We have no proper place to conduct the last rites for our deceased near and dear ones. We drew the administration’s attention to our plight, but to no avail,” a resident of Dhanari said and added that if things remained the same they would boycott the upcoming civic body election en bloc.
