The Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand, Utpal Kumar Singh has said that unauthorised entry in the offices hinders functioning and affects confidentiality. He however clarified that his order on maintaining secrecy is of general nature and the intention behind it is that the media should get correct information.
The CS was addressing a hurriedly convened Press conference at his office on Thursday. He said that the director of information has been directed to interact with media at 4 pm daily on working days.
Singh termed the arrangement as an effort to ensure that correct information related to the Government gets published or circulated in the media.
“Many times proper information does not come out and it affects the credibility of the media as well,’’ he said.
Defending the order on maintaining secrecy and ban on entry of unauthorised persons in the offices, the CS said the smooth functioning of the offices gets affected and the public works get hindered in such cases.
In response to a question, the CS said that the State administration is committed to maintaining transparency in it functioning but in the matters where secrecy is important no compromise should be made.
He said that the order is of general nature and it the Government Order of 2010 and it is a normal practice to circulate important orders from time to time.
The Chief Secretary said that the Government Orders (GO) should be uploaded on the official website without delay.
