MCD receives 70 proposals from councillors for board meeting slated on Feb 28
With the board meeting approaching close, the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) officers said that 70 proposals have been received from the councillors of various wards so far. The civic body officials further said that the proposals would be discussed in course of the board meeting. “The agenda of the meeting has been fixed and no more proposal would be accepted unless it is sent or recommended by the mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’,” a civic body officer said. .
While preparing for the board meeting slated on February 28, MCD had started to collect the proposals from the councillors of various wards early last week. The agenda which includes bettering basic development like repairing defunct street lights, replacing the sodium street bulbs with LEDs, ensuring proper sanitation system like door to door garbage collection and constructing small drainages in various wards has been set for the meeting. Councillors who have submitted proposals regarding the same are being clubbed together and they would be tabled in course of the first board meeting, the MCD officer informed.
He further added that the proposals had been received for the last one week and the process of collecting proposals has been closed now. “The agenda of the first board meeting has been fixed. We would be focused during the meeting on the basic amenities of the areas under the civic body limit like improving the lighting and the sanitation system, particularly in the newly added wards. We are also focused on the same for the other wards of the civic body. We are open to taking up new proposals in case they are sent or recommended by the mayor directly to us,” he said.
It is pertinent to mention that the long –awaited board meeting would be the first one after the civic body election and the election of the councillors and the mayor. Besides, some important discussions on the smooth running of the services given to the people of the city by MCD and also on the appointment of the employees would be held during the board meeting.
