MCD collects over Rs 2 lakh on first day of tax collection camp
On the first day of the tax collection camp, the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) has collected Rs 2, 23,000 from one ward- Mohit Nagar (ward no- 53). As per the information received from the civic body sources, around 70 people from the ward have deposited their house tax on Tuesday. The tax collection has been collected online for the first time, the civic body officers said and added that the online service to enable the people to submit their house tax is likely to start from February 15. MCD claimed to have collected tax to the tune of over Rs 15 crore from the city so far.
The process of tax collection through camps has started on Tuesday from a particular ward. The same would be held in other wards in the coming days. It is learnt that the process of holding house tax collection camps has re-started at the instance of the mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’. As per the civic body sources, such camps would be held in six more wards in the coming days — Rajeshvan Nagar Phase one (Ward no- 2) on February 6, Street number one, Rajendra Nagar (Ward No- 3) on February 7, Raja Road (Ward No- 23, 24) on February 8, Nashville Road (Wards No- 6) on February 11, Kaulagarh Road (Ward No- 59) on February 15, and last in Vasant Vihar Ward No (52) on February 16. One tax inspector has been appointed for each of the camps and he would be assisted by a team.
Speaking of the matter, the tax and revenue superintendent Dharmendra Painuly said, “We have received a good response from the tax payers on the first day of the house tax collection camp. We are sure that the same response we would receive from other camps to be held in the coming days.”
