Mayor inspects Kanji House, ABC Centre, says ‘Problems will be addressed’ soon
Mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ inspected the Kanji House and Animal Birth Control Centre situated at Kedarpuram on Tuesday. During the visit, many problems came to light following which the mayor gave directions to have them rightly addressed.
The Kanji House currently has 280 cows under its shelter which are being fed with 13.5 quintal fodder and 16 quintal of hay daily.
The mayor gave instruction to the senior veterinary officer VK Sati to address the problem of less fodder and hay than required coming to the Kanji House for the bovines kept there. He further asked the officers concerned to build a new fodder store near Kanji House and also to repair the existing one. He also asked Sati to firm up a proposal regarding appointment of new workers in the office.
Notably, Kanji House is operated with the help of an NGO over the past six months. But it separated itself, citing acute fund crunch, leading to some problems.
The mayor further gave instructions to the officers concerned to make and send a new proposal for the NGOs.
He also inspected the Kedarpuram area to identify the place for the new cowshed.
It is learnt from sources that a proposal worth Rs 81 lakh meant for the shed has been pending with the State Government for some time.
In a bid to solve the issue, the mayor instructed the officers concerned to prepare an update of the proposal status.
