The high commissioner of Mauritius in India, J Goburdhun met chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat here on Monday. Meeting the CM after having visited Badrinath and Kedarnath, he also invited Rawat to visit Mauritius.
He thanked the CM for providing rebate to people from Mauritius undertaking the Char Dham Yatra. Stating that Mauritius had a population of 13 lakh and had an equal number of tourists visiting it in a year, he also spoke of cooperation in the sphere of tourism. Goburdhun said that the people of Mauritius had deep faith in the Ganga river. He also informed the CM about the efforts being undertaken by the government of Mauritius for development of Bhojpuri and other languages.
The CM informed the high commissioner about the various steps taken in Uttarakhand for encouraging tourism and pilgrimage. Due to the facilities being provided to the visitors, lakhs of people are visiting the State as tourists or for undertaking the Char Dham Yatra. He also appreciated the attempts being made by the people of Mauritius to reconnect with their roots in India.
