Lockdown in U’khand till March 31 to stall COVID-19
To prevent the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) the Uttarakhand government has notified a lockdown of non-essential services in the state from Sunday night till the midnight of March 31. No public transport services will be permitted except transport to and from hospitals and airports. For to and from airports, carrying and producing valid documentation is mandatory.
All shops, commercial establishments, offices, factories, workshops and godowns shall close their operations. All domestic/foreign returnees to the state are directed to remain under strict home quarantine for a period as decided by the local health authorities.Citizens are required to stay at home and come out only for basic services while strictly following social distancing guidelines issued earlier. However, establishments providing essential services shall be excluded from the restrictions. These include offices charge with law and order and magisterial duties, police, medical and health, urban local bodies, fire, electricity, water and municipal services, banks/ATM, the media, telecom and internet services, postal services, supply chain and related transportation, food, groceries, milk, bread, fruit, vegetable, meat, fish and their transportation related activities and warehousing, hospitals, chemist stores, drugs and pharmaceuticals manufacturing and their transportation related activities, petrol pumps, LPG, oil agencies, their godowns and transportation.
The inter-state border shall be closed except for movement of vehicles related to the above mentioned goods and services. Any congregation of more than five persons shall be prohibited in public places. Any person found violating the containment measures shall be deemed to have committed an offence punishable under section 188 of Indian Penal Code.
