Local businesses happy with tourist arrivals in Nainital
Tourism is slowly picking up in the lake city Nainital. The weekend saw a noticeable rise in the number of tourists visiting the city. With the weather remaining clear on both Saturday and Sunday, the tourists could be seen having a good time in the city. The main DSA parking facility in the city was also jam packed with vehicles of the tourists on the weekend. With boating on the Naini lake being resumed recently, a number of visitors also enjoyed this aspect of visiting Nainital.
It is pertinent to mention here that not happy with government regulations for visitors- especially tourists from outside Uttarakhand- in view of Covid-19, the major hotels in Nainital have remained closed. However, the smaller hotels are open and accepting guests too. The majority of visitors arriving here are domestic tourists arriving from other towns and districts in Uttarakhand. However, some tourists from outside the state have also started arriving in Nainital. The weekend saw a considerable number of tourists in recent times enjoying different aspects of this city. The Mall Road, Pant Park and other locations popular with tourists saw a noticeable presence of the visitors. Compared to the pre-Covid era, the number of tourists arriving here is still considerably less. However, the local businessmen are happy that the tourists have started arriving here even if in small numbers. The number of tourists usually rises on the weekends. However, with the number of Covid cases rising consistently in the state, it remains to be seen whether the arrival of tourists will rise or drop in the coming days.
