The trailer of the Hindi movie ‘Little Baby’ shot entirely in Dehradun was launched here in the presence of State minister Dhan Singh Rawat, Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ along with the director and producer of the movie among others on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion Rawat said that a new film policy, subsidy for film makers and single window system introduced by the state government will further boost film shooting in Uttarakhand. There are hundreds of sites in the state which are more beautiful than even foreign locations, he added, while appreciating the movie makers.
Mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ appreciated the movie makers for giving space for local actors. He added that the local artistes should also be given prominent roles and not only those of extras. Pauri MLA Mukesh Koli, Lansdowne MLA Dilip Singh Rawat and State minorities commission chairman Dr RK Jain among others also expressed their views on the occasion.
Earlier, the movie director Shekhar Jha said that Uttarakhand is one of the most beautiful Indian states. Stating that it took 20 days to complete the film shooting in Dehradun, he thanked the state government, local residents and local actors for their contribution. Appreciating the state government’s policy, he said that they had secured the necessary permission for shooting the film in one day.
The movie producer Rinku Singh recalled that though Dehradun was the first choice of the director, she was initially apprehensive. However, shooting the movie here was a good decision since all equipment, locations and about 90 per cent of the actors in the movie were found in Dehradun, she said.
Slated to be released on September 27, Little Baby explores various facets of relationships between a concerned father and a fiercely independent teenage daughter. Priyanshu Chatterjee plays the father while Gulnaz Siganporia plays the rebellious daughter.
In the movie, police officer Dushyant working Dehradun, played by Chatterjee, needs to break flesh-trade racket in town. In one such raid, many young college students including his only teenage daughter Sasha are caught. Dushyant’s world comes crashing down. Sasha is unrelenting, a rebel- who hates man made laws and champions the cause of freedom from norms, rules and everything that restricts. She is not ashamed of, what she was doing. Dushyant is heart-broken, shattered, alone and helpless. He needs help – psychiatric help and with no one else to go to, he looks at his daughter who is happy to help. Communication between daughter and father starts again and the dynamics change.
