Let Human Species be Benevolent to All Living Beings
Our wonderful living planet along with different heavenly bodies in the cosmos is undergoing evolution, as claimed by Professor Vir Singh in his new theory “Fertilising the Universe”. If we see a pizza as an evolution, Darwin’s theory of evolution seems to represent only a slice of it. His theory of natural selection keeps evolution confined only to earth. On the other hand, Singh’s theory takes into account the evolution happening in all the cosmic bodies along with our living planet earth. The evolution of life on earth is an attribute of the whole universe and life continues to be in evolution. In this ongoing evolution, we the Homo sapiens have emerged out as the most powerful species yet with a sad fact that we bear a dominating trait of dictatorship. We have turned into dictators who believe every life form on earth exist to serve solely humans as per our desire and comfort.
Our evolution has been in such a way that we have acquired advanced intelligence, super locomotive abilities, realisation of our consciousness, conversation skills to comprehend the feelings and thoughts of each other and many beautiful traits which the other species are devoid of. But conversely, instead of using these extraordinary skills in ensuring the sustainability of our living planet, we are destroying it without even feeling accountable for our irresponsible actions marked with insatiable greed.
In the process of evolution, when we turned into the most powerful species, we must have inculcated the existence values of all other living species. But soon we became obsessed with our intelligence and started treating plant species and animal species as our slaves and abused them excessively for our comfortable life.
In the present, we are so obsessed with the technologies and artificial intelligence that we have almost wiped off many plants and animal species from existence. In return, these technologies have made us their slaves without us even realizing it. There is a saying –what we focus on, grows. Now we are focusing on artificial intelligence and our focus has been so intense that in the last 25-30 years it has grown at a horrifying rate robbing people of their natural intelligence, time and energy. These technologies have taken us in their tight grip and if we continue to focus on the artificial intelligence at the same or an intensified rate, the time is not far when we would be the victims of the dictatorship of the artificial intelligence. Our own existence then would be at the threat of extinction.
Evolution created humans with an unchecked morality because of which we are responsible for other species mortality. The human-created technologies with an unchecked overuse will be responsible for our abuse. Then we would wish this powerful artificial intelligence have mercy on us similarly as the plants and animal species now plead to us.
Our perception is limited by the existing belief that comfort is everything. So, we do all that we can beyond our limits in order to have a comfortable life. This attitude has already cost us a lot but we still are in the hallucination of our dictatorship-driven mindset and teaching our future generation the same mistaken belief we were told by our predecessors. We are driven with superiority to showcase each other as to who lives a more comfortable life. And just because the destruction is not happening in front of our eyes, we believe the products or services we are using are not coming from the destruction of other living entities. If the comfort or services we use are as a result of deforestation, it is our responsibility to feel accountable for the actions and at the same time obligated to help in reforestation.
If our planet earth is an organisation and us, human species, with powerful traits sit at the top of the hierarchy, then ensuring the survival, safety and sustainability of all other life forms that sit in the lower levels of this hierarchy is our responsibility. We know that if the leader or boss of the organisation is philanthropic and compassionate, the organisation will flourish, otherwise it is doomed.
What we are experiencing now is not good for us and the mother earth, so we need to have a paradigm shift. Paradigm is powerful because they create a lens through which we see the world. Sadly the paradigm we have now is that we believe as if there is a huge reservoir of plant and animal species and we can use them to meet our desires and greed. We abuse them at an excessive rate believing it will replenish on its own. See the animals’ species do not cut down or destroy the plant species at the alarming rate that we do. Also, they cannot plant a tree; they have not evolved that skill and consciousness. We have the skill as well as consciousness but we choose not to use them because we are completely soaked in satisfying our egoistic self directed by that dictatorial trait of ours. If we keep continuing what we are doing, instead of witnessing sustainability in the future, we are bound to witness restrainability in the present.
Therefore, paradigm shift or perception change is really important for the sustainability of Earth and of the Universe as a whole. Adoption of a new perception is needed to experience the change we wish to see. If we want to reduce global warming and other adverse consequences of climate change, we will have to take away the greed, superiority, and dictatorship-driven lenses and wear a new set of lenses which helps us see the nature in its wholesome form with diverse species living in harmony.
You see, our subconscious mind is very powerful and 95 per cent of our thinking or perception is based on our sub-conscious mind. In the last 20 years, we did not have much phones or computers with us, but this idea was repeated so much with the promotion of its striking features to connect far seated people within seconds, clicking the pictures, playing the music and many more that everyone got fascinated by their outcomes and got addicted to this technology. Our sub-conscious mind fed with this repeated information changed our perception and we became addicted to it. However, with a sad irony, its abuse is now much more than its use and it is now fuelling our muscle of distraction.
There are numerous viral videos and posts of things that keep flooding the internet, many of which add no value to our life, on top of that steal our precious time of productivity. In the end, they get stacked up in our folders and clouds where we do not see them ever.
Let us share our pictures and videos of planting trees, saving animal species, cleaning our environment and related activities intended to save our planet. A tree planted by you will become home of many small birds and animal species. Our compassion will become a chain of reactions. Our initiative will become a revolution. Let’s “save the environment” become our sub-conscious action.
Let the Skolimowskian philosophy “All is one” become our central thought to see oneness of the humankind and of the universe.
In the Bhagwad Gita, Lord Krishna emphasises the fact that who is rooted in oneness attains Yoga:
The man who sees me in everything
And everything within me
Will not be lost to me, nor
Will I ever be lost to him.
He who is rooted in oneness
Realises that I am
In every being; wherever
He goes, he remains in me.
When he sees all beings as equal
In suffering or in joy
Because they are like himself
That man has become perfect in yoga.
