Kumbh Mela officer inspects under-construction flyovers & bridges
In order to expedite the Kumbh Mela works, the Kumbh Mela officer Deepak Rawat along with the officials of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) inspected all the flyovers and bridges under construction between Dudhadhari Chowk and Jwalapur on Wednesday.
Considering the possibility of waterlogging being reported by the residents due to the construction of retaining wall for the underpass being made by NHAI to link the Dham Marg-Sapt Sarovar in North Haridwar, a team of officials led by Rawat inspected the Dham-Sapt Sarovar NH route.
Local councilor Anirudh Bhati apprised Rawat by showing old pictures and documents stating that this area is prone to be submerged in about six feet of water during the monsoon. Due to NH construction, the old 30 feet drains have been reduced to six feet. With the construction of retaining wall for the underpass, the water logging problem in the area might be exacerbated, he said. The councillor said that construction of the retaining wall would cause waterlogging in Mukhiya Gali, Adarsh Nagar, Kamaldas Kutia, Pavan Dham Marg, Sapt Sarovar Marg, Shivnagar and Rani Gali. Before the construction of the underpass, it is very important to have proper drainage, he added.
Rawat directed NHAI officials to ensure a proper drainage system. NHAI project director Vaibhav Mittal, project manager Sanjeev Verma, team leader Satyabhan Singh, additional Kumbh Mela officer Lalit Narayan Mishra, municipal commissioner Narendra Bhandari and other officials were present during the inspection.
