Parents of Gopal Das visit Matri Sadan
The family members of the Ganga crusader Gopal Das who went missing from Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) Hospital on December 5 are planning to meet the Congress president Rahul Gandhi.
Notably, Rahul Gandhi had expressed concern in October over the deteriorating health of the Ganga activist from Haryana who had been on fasting, demanding unimpeded flow of Ganga.
The near ones of the ascetic-turned Ganga activist said that they are going to meet Gandhi soon to convey to him the anguish they have been suffering from since Das went missing from the hospital.
They said that if the Congress president pressures the state government the latter would be forced to disclose the whereabouts of Das who had mysteriously disappeared from the premier government-run hospital of the state.
Meanwhile, the father of the missing activist Shamsher Singh and his mother Shakuntala Devi came to Matri Sadan ashram in Jagjeetpur on Monday.
Demanding her son to be given back to them, Shakuntala said that she had withdrawn her fasting stir on Saturday on being assured by the administration of her son being traced soon.
“I was on fasting at Triveni Ghat for 10 days. On Saturday, SDM Rishikesh came to me and requested me to end fasting while assuring that my son would be traced soon. But he remain untraced till date,” she said. However, the missing activist’s father said that he had not believed in the assurances of the district administration. “I knew their assurances were false,” he said grimly.
He further said that while the administration said that his son left the hospital of his own accord they were unable to show the footage of the closed circuit cameras to buttress their point. “I have no trust left in the government and the district administration,” he said indignantly.
