Kanwadias to provide ID details to their local police stations
As an initiative before this year’s Kanwad Mela, Kanwadias will have to provide information regarding their team leader and the vehicles they will be using to the local police stations in their home towns. This will not only help Uttarakhand police in investigating law and order situations but also make identification easier in case of any mishap.
Director General (Law and Order) Ashok Kumar said, “In the meeting conducted on Tuesday it was decided that Kanwadias will be have to give the identification details of their leader and the vehicles at the respective police stations of the areas they hail from.”
He further added, “We are expecting nearly three crore Kanwadias this year. They have been asked to carry identification cards at all times. We have asked Kanwadias who are not planning to visit Haridwar but the Char Dham area to not travel through the routes passing from Haridwar and Roorkee, otherwise the already increased traffic there will create problems for the management as well as for the visitors.”
It is pertinent to mention here that during the Kanwad Mela from July 17 to 30, Kanwadias from all over the country come to Uttarakhand especially from Haryana and western areas of Uttar Pradesh.
