The Dehradun-Varanasi Janata Express is set to resume operation from April 7. It will reach Dehradun on April 8. The Naini-Doon Janshatabdi Express on different timings and Ujjain- Indore passenger train has also started operating since April 2. Resumption of these trains is likely to provide relief especially to those travelling during the summer holidays.
Dehradun railway station superintendent Sitaram Sonkar told The Pioneer that the Dehradun-Varanasi Janata Express will start from Varanasi on April 7 and reach Dehradun on April 8. Giving further details about the timings of this train, he said, “Janata Express will reach Doon on April 8 at about 6:30 AM. Then in the evening it will depart for Varanasi at 6:15 PM.”
About the Naini-Doon Janshatabdi Express which operates from Kathgodam to Dehradun, he said, “The Naini-Doon Janshatabdi Express has started operating at 5:30 am instead of 5:15 am. The train from Kathgodam will reach Dehradun at 12:30 pm. On the same day, it will depart for Kathgodam at 3:45 pm and reach there at 11:35 pm. Also the operating days have also changed. Now the train will operate on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. These changes have been done on public demand. The Ujjain-Indore passenger train has also resumed operating from April 2 after a gap.”
It is pertinent to mention here that Dehradun-Varanasi Janata Express was scheduled to restart from April 15. However, the railway authorities reportedly decided to resume its operation a week before the scheduled date as people travelling to Varanasi are taking a much longer route and thus facing inconvenience.
