Local residents in Kankhal area of Haridwar are shocked after the case of a baby being allegedly kidnapped took an unexpected turn. The woman who had complained about her six-month old baby having gone missing turned out to be the killer of her child. Irritated by the baby crying repeatedly, the woman reportedly threw the child in a canal.
According to the Haridwar senior superintendent of police Senthil Avoodai K Raj S, Sangeeta Baluni had reported on Sunday that she had gone to get milk leaving her three-year-old daughter with her six-month-old son Ansh. But when she arrived, her son was missing from the house while the daughter was present in the room. The news of the kidnapping of a child in broad daylight stirred the police up into action. Kankhal SO Hariom Raj Chauhan started the investigation even as the police continued efforts to search for the missing child till late on Sunday night. However when CCTV footage from the neigbourhood was checked, the police saw the woman leave her house with a bundle and return home without it. During questioning, Sangeeta made contradictory statements. She finally broke down and confessed that she was upset with Ansh. She said that he used to ask for milk several times in a day and that she was fed up. Frustrated, she threw her baby into a canal. The confession came as a shock to the police too. The police were still attempting to recover the body of the baby till the time of this report being filed.
