The Clock Tower will be a ‘No Parking and No Stoppage’ zone during Dhanteras and Deepawali. The police will also develop nine special traffic zones besides making 10 additional parking spaces in Paltan Bazaar.

The traffic police stated this in its comprehensive plan issued on Tuesday to minimise traffic during Deepawali. The Dehradun superintendent of police (traffic) Akshay Konde said that different traffic and action plans have been prepared this year and he is certain that traffic will be smooth this festival as compared to the previous years.

Considering the rush in one of the famous markets of the city Paltan Bazaar ahead of Deepawali, the traffic police will provide 10 additional parking spaces. These places are Kalu Mall Dharamshala at Raja Road, Shivaji Dharamshala near Saharanpur Chowk,  SGRR school, Geeta Bhawan and Sadhuram School at Raja Road, Barf Khana at Kanwali Road, Darshani Gate behind Siddharth Hotel, Post office at Clock Tower and Rangers Ground. Besides this, a special lane will also be made by the traffic police through cones or caution tapes to ensure easy traffic movement from Clock Tower to Rajpur Road/Chakrata Road and from Clock Tower to Darshanlal Chowk.

The officials informed that the traffic police have also formed nine special traffic zones and duties will be changed after identifying different traffic pressure points on different days. A special team has also been formed to make announcements, for towing and observing invalid parking and video surveillance to ensure traffic laws are being followed.
