for long been demanding improvement of rail connectivity between Kathgodam and cities in other States. However, this demand has not been met yet even as the trains operating at present are not operating at full capacity, allege the hoteliers. The Hotel and Restaurant Association, Northern India, has now demanded that a fully air-conditioned coach be added to the express train plying between Kathgodam and the provisional state capital Dehradun. The association’s working committee member Praveen Sharma informed that the tourism business can not be given a boost without enhancement of connectivity. Those involved in the hotel and tourism industry have been demanding steps for enhancing connectivity for about two decades now. Introducing trains to enable convenient travel between Uttarakhand, west and south India is required. Further, the trains being operated at present also need to be made more convenient for the passengers. Sharma further said that air conditioned first and second class coaches need to be added to the Kathgodam-Dehradun express. The association has also sent a letter to the State administration communicating this demand. In its letter, the association has stated that the state government should take necessary measures to provide better facilities to tourists arriving here apart from Garhwal and Kumaon regions.
