Doon likely to receive heavy rain from Tuesday evening to Wednesday night
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at a few places in three of the state’s districts today. In addition to issuing a red warning regarding this, the state meteorological centre has also issued an alert regarding the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in seven districts and in Dehradun city from the night of August 18 to the night of August 19.
According to the forecast issued by the meteorological centre on Monday evening, heavy to very heavy rainfall
with intense spells are likely to occur at a few places in Pithoragarh, Bageshwar and Chamoli districts. Further, heavy to very heavy rainfall with intense spells is likely to occur at isolated places in Nainital, Udham singh nagar, Champawat, Dehradun, Haridwar, Tehri and Pauri districts on Tuesday. Lighting is also likely to occur at isolated places in the state today.
In Dehradun the weather during the day is forecast to be partly to generally cloudy with few spells of rain/thundershowers likely to occur- one or two may be heavy in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 31 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius respectively here on Tuesday. However, heavy to very heavy rainfall/thundershowers with intense spells are likely to occur in Dehradun city from evening/night of August 18 to the night of August 19. This is likely to result in water logging in low lying areas, streets and roads in the city. Sudden increase in water flow/flash floods are also likely in rivulets and rainwater streams. Settlements/people especially residing near the banks of rivulets, low lying areas and rainwater streams are advised to remain cautious.
