Owns moral responsibility for defeat of Congress party in Assam
With Congress President Rahul Gandhi remaining stoic on his resignation, the senior Congress leader Harish Rawat has announced his resignation from the post of general secretary of All India Congress Committee ( AICC).
Rawat who is the former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand and the in-charge of Congress party in Assam gave information about his resignation on social media on Thursday.
Rawat in his message has said that since he was in charge of Assam, he cannot escape from the responsibility of defeat. After the ignominious defeat it received at the hands of BJP in the recently held Lok Sabha elections,
Congress President Rahul Gandhi who led a high decibel election campaign which directly targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi, resigned owning moral responsibility of the defeat.
Before submitting his resignation, Rahul had expressed displeasure on the fact that no office bearer of Congress party is resigning to take moral responsibility of defeat.
Meanwhile on Thursday, Harish Rawat on his facebook wall wrote that for defeat of Congress party and its organizational weakness all the office bearers are responsible.
“I personally am responsible for poor performance of party in Assam. I have already tendered my resignation from the post of general secretary of AICC,’’ he said.
Rawat added that a person like him who is working dedicatedly for the party, position in party matters nothing, but a personality who can inspire with his leadership is needed and only Rahul Gandhi has got this capability.
The former CM said that the situation can be reversed in the assembly elections of 2022 and for it the democratic forces and all Congressmen want that Rahul Gandhi continues on the position of president.
