Harish Rawat offers prayers at Gurudwara

The veteran leader was recently appointed as in charge of Punjab

Former chief minister and general secretary of All India Congress Committee (AICC) Harish Rawat visited Gurudwara, Govindnagar at Racecourse on Sunday and offered prayers there. Rawat was recently renominated in the powerful Congress Working Committee (CWC), the apex decision making body of Congress party and was handed over the charge of a crucial and large state like Punjab. On his facebook page Rawat said that he offered prayers before the Gurugranth Sahib and sought blessings from Wahe Guru.  Rawat was accompanied by deputy Pradhan of Gurudwara Govind Nagar Devendra Singh Anand, chairman of Gurusikh education society Devendra Bindra, Amarjeet Singh Chitta and others.

The appointment of Harish Rawat as in-charge of Congress party in Punjab is being seen as his elevation in the grand old party.  Understanding the importance of the veteran leader, the party also removed Anugrah Narayan Singh from the post of in charge of Uttarakhand. Singh incidentally was seen close to the camp of Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Pritam Singh and leader of opposition in Uttarakhand assembly Indira Hridayesh. Incidentally the elections of Punjab and Uttarakhand are slated to be held almost at the same time in 2022 and since both states are located near it would be easy for Rawat to manage the affairs of both the poll bound states.
