The districts of Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar which are having maximum number of active cases of the Covid-19 in Uttarakhand are doing very badly when it comes to the number of tests. The national average of tests is 1546 on every one lakh of population.
The data released by the Social Development for Communities Foundation (SDCF) shows that Haridwar district which has a population of 23.06 lakhs had done only 24797 tests so far which means that the district has done only 1075 tests on every one lakh of the population. In Udham Singh Nagar district a total of 23162 tests have been done. This district has a population of 20.11 lakh and here 1174 tests per one lakh of population have been done. As compared to these the mountainous districts of Champawat ( 2461 tests per lakh), Uttarkashi ( 2213 tests per lakh) and Rudraprayag ( 2194 tests per one lakh) are doing wonderfully well. These districts occupy the top three positions in the table of testing rate. The provisional state capital Dehradun is at fourth position with 1769 tests per one lakh of population. Social activist and founder of SDCF, Anoop Nautiyal said that Haridwar needs to urgently ramp up its testing.
