While Dehradun and other places in the State experienced spells of rain on Tuesday, the State Meteorological Centre has given an alert of hail and squall which is very likely to occur at isolated places of the state on Wednesday. The isolated places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, and Pithoragarh districts are likely to experience such weather conditions today. Light to moderate rain and thunderstorm is also very likely to occur at many places of the state.
The provisional state capital also experienced spells of rain on Tuesday which resulted in a marked drop in the temperature. According to the meteorological centre, the sky in Dehradun is likely to remain partly to generally cloudy with possibility of rain, hail, squall and thunderstorm in some areas on Wednesday. The maximum and minimum temperatures for the city are expected to be about 25 degree Celsius and 17 degree Celsius respectively.
As per the officials of the State meteorological centre, many places in the state received light rainfall on Tuesday. “We have received information of rainfall on Tuesday from Mukteshwar, Mussoorie, New Tehri, Dehradun, and Tehri. Many other places in the state also received moderate rainfall,’’ an official said.
Meanwhile, the maximum and minimum temperature recorded at various places of the state on Tuesday were 25.4 degree Celsius and 20.1 degree Celsius in Dehradun, 30.8 degree Celsius and 19.3 degree Celsius in Pantnagar, 18.7 degree Celsius and 13.5 degree Celsius in Mukteshwar and 19.8 degree Celsius and 15.4 degree Celsius respectively in New Tehri.
