The governor lieutenant general (retd), Gurmit Singh has congratulated the people of the State on the occasion of the Constitution Day. He said that on November 26, 1949 the constitution was adopted by the people of the country.
Paying tribute to BR Ambedkar and others involved in framing the constitution, the governor said that the constitution is the soul of Indian democracy and the source of all its powers. He said that the constitution was prepared due to exceptional talent, hard work and great ideas of Ambedkar.
He said that the Constitution Day is the day on which every Indian should remember the ideals, duties and principles embodied in our constitution. Terming the constitution as an excellent document prepared by many great scholars, the governor said that it serves as the guiding light for the nation.
Singh said that every citizen of the country should remain aware of their duties mentioned in the constitution and should incorporate the values enshrined in it.
