Will work to make the city clean, beautiful and developed with public support
The newly elected mayor of Dehradun, Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ was administered the oath of office and secrecy at the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun on Sunday. He then administered the oath of office and secrecy to the 100 newly elected councilors in the presence of Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and other leaders.
Speaking after the ceremony, the Chief Minister said that this was a challenging time for the mayor who would have to work hard to fulfill the expectations of the public.
The Garhwal commissioner Shailesh Bagauli administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly elected mayor of Dehradun on Sunday morning. After that, the mayor administered the oath to newly elected councilors in groups of 20-25.
After the oath-taking ceremony, the previous mayor of Dehradun and current Dharmpur MLA, Vinod Chamoli formally handed over charge to the newly elected mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’. The Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat congratulated Gama and his entire team. Rawat said that this time would be a challenging time for the mayor as he would have to work towards fulfilling the promises made to the public. He would also have to strive to meet the expectations of the people of Dehradun.
He expressed hope that Gama would meet the public expectations and undertake effective measures for the desired level of development in the city.
The State Government will provide all possible assistance to the municipal corporation for facilitating the desired developmental works in the city, stressed the Chief Minister. Speaking on the occasion, the mayor thanked the Chief Minister and people of Dehradun.
He said that his first priority would be to work towards making Dehradun a clean and beautiful city. Works will be undertaken for the development of the city with the cooperation of the public, added the mayor. The State’s Urban Development Minister Madan Kaushik, Minister of State for Higher Education, Dhan Singh Rawat, MPs Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah, Bharatiya Janata Party state president Ajay Bhatt, MLAs Harbans Kapoor, Vinod Chamoli, Ganesh Joshi, Umesh Sharma ‘Kau’, Khajan Das, Sahdev Singh Pundir and nominated MLA GIG Mann were also among those present on the occasion.
