Free travel for women in roadways buses on Rakshabandhan
On the occasion of Rakshabandhan, women will allowed to travel free on all buses of the roadways, said chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat. He was speaking at a Rakshabandhan programme during which a number of women tied Rakhis on his wrist. Extending his wishes to the gathering for the occasions of Independence Day and Rakshabandhan, he said that the State Government has made various efforts towards women empowerment. The State Government is providing interest-free loan of up to Rs five lakh to women self help groups.
Additionally, interest free loan of up to Rs one lakh is being provided for women entrepreneurs. Rawat said that only through women empowerment will the nation be strengthened. He also spoke about the Parliament passing the triple-talaq bill and the abrogation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. Rawat said, “Independence Day this year is special for us for many reasons. We made major progress in science and technology whether it be the launching of Chandrayaan-2 or placing satellites in space. Not only is our nation now among the leading countries of the world but the faith of the global community in India has also increased,” he said. The State minister for Higher Education, Dhan Singh Rawat, Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’, Rishikesh mayor Anita Mamgai, BJP leader Anil Goel and others were also present on the occasion.
