Formulate separate plans for different geographical areas- Chauhan
The district panchayat president of Dehradun, Madhu Chauhan has said that the national level projects should be planned keeping in mind the geographical conditions of the area. She was speaking at a state level virtual conference held to prepare a plan outline of different development projects for the district and block panchayats on Friday. The meeting was held at the state secretariat. The development plans for the Panchayati Raj bodies would be implemented from the budget provided by the 15th Finance Commission (FC).
In the meeting Chauhan suggested that separate plans for Himalayan, coastal and southern states should be formulated. It is pertinent to mention here that Chauhan was nominated by the government of India in the national committee as the representative of the five Himalayan states of Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh. On the day, Chauhan gave her presentation to the chairman of the national committee and former special secretary Panchayati Raj department, Bala Prasad. In the meeting Prasad said that considering the geographical condition of Uttarakhand, the activities such as plantation of aromatic and medicinal plants can be undertaken. He suggested that training for these activities can be imparted under the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan.
The secretary/ director Panchayati Raj, H C Semwal, joint director Rajiv Kumar Nath Tripathi, Kanchan Negi and others were present in the secretariat on the occasion.
