Four men and a hotel owner in Haridwar have been booked in the alleged rape of a 16 year old girl. The main accused had reportedly established a friendship with the victim through the social media and had then taken her to a hotel along with three of his friends. She was allegedly raped in the hotel and after the incident she informed her guardians about it, following which they lodged an FIR against the accused.
Ranipur Kotwali inspector in-charge Yogesh Dev said that a minor girl and the accused had become friends through social media. The main accused Shahnawaz, who is a resident of Manglaur, came to the girl’s house and took her to Haridwar. After reaching Haridwar, the accused called Sameer and told him that he wanted a room for three hours. He was told to go to Hotel Mehfil located at Jwalapur and cite Sameer’s name to the hotel owner Sumit Walia. Shahnawaz got a room where he raped the girl while his three friends Asif, Vaibhav and Adab allegedly stood outside the room guarding the door. When the girl began to cry, the four men reportedly got scared and went away after dropping her near her house.
Seeing the seriousness of the case, the Haridwar SSP Senthil Avoodai Krishna Raj S ordered speedy action after which the police filed a case under the IPC and POCSO Act. Asif, Shahnawaz, Adab and Vaibhav – all residents of Manglaur along with Jwalapur resident hotel owner Sumit Walia and Jwalapur resident Sameer were arrested by the police and presented before the court.
