Taking cognisance of a report submitted by the Chief General Manager of Uttarakhand Jal Sansthan, the State administration has found Executive Engineer Yashveer Mall guilty of dereliction of his duties during the leakage of Chlorine gas from Dilaram Chowk based water works campus in the month of August last year and recommend disciplinary action against him. The state administration has also set up an inquiry headed by General Manager TRM Uttarakhand Jal Sansthan S K Sharma. In an order, the secretary drinking water Arvind Singh Hyanki said has asked Sharma to complete the inquiry in the matter within one month and submit inquiry report. The secretary has also not found the reply of show cause notice by the General Manager Headquarters Neelima Garg and Superintending Engineer Subodh Kumar satisfactory and issued warning to them. It is charged that Garg and Kumar visited the spot next day in the morning despite having being informed about the accident which occurred during night.
The accident occurred on the night of August 17 last year when the chlorine gas leaked from a cylinder kept in the premises. The accident resulted in illness to 17 people out of which five had to be hospitalised.
