Ensure max participation in Khel Mahakumbh: Minister
The Khel Mahakumbh would commence on November 25 and its mascot would be ‘Musk Deer’.
The education and sports minister Arvind Pandey undertook a review of preparation for the Khel Mahakunbh at state secretariat on Wednesday.
In the meeting, the members of the state level monitoring committee participated. The minister directed the officials that all the participants in the event should be given certificates. He said that the objective of the Khel Mahakumbh is to promote poor but talented students. The minister said that maximum participation should be ensured in the event and for it extensive publicity should be undertaken. He said that proper arrangement for stay, food and first aid should be done. The minister added that the arrangement of toilets for the players should be made.
In the meeting it was decided that the Khel Mahakumbh would commence on November 25 and its mascot would be ‘Musk Deer’.
More than two lakh players are expected to in the event which would be organised at Nyaya Panchayat, Block, district and state level. The secretary sports and youth welfare, Brijesh Kumar Sant said that in these games the categories of under -12, under-14, under-17, under- 21 years (In all categories, the boys and girls would be in separate groups) have been made.
Similarly separate categories of Women and Specially abled are made in which contestants of age group 21- 25 years can participate. The events of Women category would be organised at district and state level while the events of specially abled category would be held at state level only.
In the Khel Mahakumbh, 16 sporting events including Kabaddi, athletics, Kho- Kho, Volleyball, Badminton, Football, Table- tennis, hockey, basketball, taekwondo, handball, Judo, fencing, swimming, boxing and archery would be held.
In the meeting Additional Secretary Udai Raj Singh, Vinod Kumar Suman, Pratap Singh, Director, education, R K Kunwar, Director Information Anil Kumar Chandola and others were present.
