Encourage local products, focus on packaging & branding: CM
Chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat visited the plantation of mountain produce and pilot project at Ghandiyal in Pauri district on Saturday. Speaking on the occasion, he stressed on encouraging local products.
The CM also stressed on the need for remaining alert at a time when the whole world is undergoing the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic. All the people will have to properly follow all the guidelines issues for protection from the virus. He stressed on the necessity of physical distancing and wearing a face mask for protection from Covid.
Rawat said, “We are also facing the big challenge of converting a disaster into an opportunity. Many youths have returned to their homes here due to difficult circumstances. The Mukhyamantri Swarozgar Yojana (MSY) has been launched to ensure that the youths have enough opportunities for self employment. Almost all types of works have been included in this scheme.”
The CM also appreciated the work being done with collective efforts by the youths in Pauri, adding that others should also take inspiration from this. Stating that the state government is making consistent efforts to enhance self employment, he stressed on the need for encouraging local products while laying special focus on their packaging and branding. Referring to the rich biodiversity in the state, he said that products made from Himalayan herbs can be marketed with the Himalayan brand. The state government has also started growth centres with more than 100 being started so far. One growth centre each is being built in every Nyay Panchayat and each centre is being developed on a different concept. Informing further about measures taken to facilitate self employment, he said that upto 50 per cent subsidy is being provided for purchasing a bus under the Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali scheme. Arrangement has also been made to get this bus contracted with the transport corporation. About 10,000 motorcycles will be provided under MSY for tourism. The government will pay interest for two years on these, he said.
