Employee unions see red on govt statement on salary deduction
The employee associations have taken exception to the stand taken by the state government in Uttarakhand High Court (HC) on the issue of deduction of one month of salary of state government employees. The state government had stated that the decision to deduct salary of one day every month for Covid-19 pandemic was taken on the request of the representatives of the employees. In a statement, the general secretary of the Rajya Karmchari Sanyukt Parishad, Arun Pandey said that on Saturday, office bearers of the Parishad held telephonic conversation on the issue on Saturday and it was decided that the government should be asked to name the employee association or associations which have requested about salary deduction. Pandey added that it should also be ascertained whether or not the employee association or their representatives are eligible to make any recommendation about the salary of employees. He said that the Council has the information no employee association or representative had not given any such consent to the government. He added that the association can only make an appeal to its members for making any contribution from their salary and it depends on the individual to make the said contribution or not. Pandey said that the government is trying to create confusion by such statements in the employees.
