The report of economic survey -2019-20 tabled in Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha on Wednesday shows that the economic growth rate of the state has declined from 7.84 per cent in the year 2017-18 to 6.87 per cent in the year 2018-19. The survey paints a sorry picture of the primary sector with agriculture showing a dismal growth rate of 0.81 per cent and mining sector showing a growth rate of only 0.82 per cent in the year 2018-19. The financial sector is also showing sign of sluggishness as the survey shows a growth rate of only 0.26 per cent. However the hospitality industry is showing a robust growth of 11.30 per cent in the survey. Similarly, the service sector like electricity, gas and water is also showing a rise of 10.27 per cent. The transport, storage and communication sector also showed a good growth rate of 7.87 per cent. The per capita income in the state has increased from Rs 1,82,320 in the year 2017-18 to Rs 1,98,738 in the year 2018-19. The Gross Domestic Production (GDP) of state in the year 2017-18 was Rs 2,22,836 crore which according to revised estimates is likely to remain at Rs 2,45,895 crore for the year 2019-20.
The survey shows that a total of 2,674,654 bank accounts under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana were opened in state till December 31, 2019 and 82.12 per cent accounts have been linked with Aadhaar. The state earned a revenue of 7210.87 crore in the financial year 2019-20 till December 31, 2019 which is 12 percent more than the corresponding period of last year. It is estimated that collection for the year 2019-20 would be around Rs 9948.74 crore. The survey shows a decline of 9.3 percent in the number of the cows and buffaloes. The number of local breed of cows showed a steep decline of 15.48 per cent while the number of buffaloes, a decrease of 12.29 percent has occured. In the education sector, the survey shows that 32,196 teachers are working in 14,452 government schools and 4,67,122 students are enrolled in these schools. The survey shows that 123000 patients were treated under the Atal Ayushman Uttarakhand Yojana (AAUY).
