In the coming Lok Sabha Elections 2019, along with the EVM, 100 per cent VVPAT would be used. Besides, awareness is being created among the voters of the State regarding the EVM and VVPAT. Directions in this regard have been issued by the secretary and chief electoral officer Saujanya to the district election officers.
As per the schedule issued by the Election Commission, awareness and exhibition programmes in every village/mohallas and districts regarding EVM and VVPAT machines are being organised. The schedule of the proposed programmes follows;-from January 1 in Pauri Garhwal, from January 2 in Rudraprayag, from January 7 in Tehri Garhwal, from January 9 in Bageshwar, from January 10 in Haridwar, Uttarkashi, Pithoragarh, Almora, Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar and from January 11 in Nainital. It would start in Dehradun from January 15.
Saujanya said that the process of voting through EVM and VVPAT is completely secure and transparent as there is no possibility of any kind of tampering. “All the residents and voters of the State are appealed to be aware of the EVM and VVPAT machines in their respective districts during the exhibition and awareness programmes.
They should also participate in the mock polls and confirm its reliability, transparency, privacy and security,” she added.
