Various issues were discussed in the 11th meeting of the Dehradun Smart City advisory forum here on Saturday. Members of the forum said that works under the project should cause least inconvenience to the public due to monsoon related issues like water logging, traffic block and inconvenience to pedestrians. The debris resulting from works for smart road and water supply augmentation should be cleared immediately. Regarding the cycle for change challenge, it was stated that a better proposal will be submitted to the Government of India which has initiated this challenge to encourage cycling and boost public health. The 11 cities which submit good proposals under this challenge will be provided a grant of Rs one crore. Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal Gama, public representatives and other members of the forum were present in the meeting.
The Dehradun Smart City Limited (DSCL) CEO and Dehradun district magistrate Ashish Kumar Shrivastava also reviewed the works underway in Parade Ground and Paltan Bazaar along with the contractors and officials concerned. Learning about problems being faced by the contractors, he directed that the work be completed on time while ensuring quality. Necessary insecticides should also be sprayed at the workplace from time to time to prevent the spread of dengue and malaria while also ensuring that rules are followed for protection from Covid-19.
